Vice President Welfare - Ruth O'Leary
I am very pleased to say that I am your Vice-President Welfare for the coming year 2016/17.
I have just completed my degree in Business Studies and I have stood exactly where you are standing today. I hope you will enjoy your time in CIT just as much as I did.We at the Students’ Union are your friends. We work for the students and our aim is to help students have the best possible CIT experience. I urge you to use the services we each provide as a problem shared is after all a problem halved.
My office is located on the first floor of the student centre. As VP Welfare, I am here to help you with issues such as :
- Financial Issues
- Sexual Health
- Mental Health
I have loads of information on the above topics in my office. I want you to feel free to call up to me whenever you need to talk. No problem is ever too big or too small. It is important for me to mention that I am not a counsellor. I will be able to listen to you and offer the best advice I can and also refer you when extra assistance is needed. Throughout the year I will run many Welfare Campaigns such as S.H.A.G Week, Positive Mind & Body Week, Exam De-stress Week and Safety Week. I encourage you alll to get involved in these campaigns.
My aim for the year is to ensure you are provided with the skills and know how to make sure that your time here in CIT is a happy, healthy and safe experience. CIT has so much to offer to all its students. You should make the most of it. Join some of our sports clubs or our endless list of societies. You could also gain experience of being a class representative for your class. If I could give you one piece of advice it is to get involved in college. Your time in CIT will absolutely fly by. I have experienced this myself.
Lastly, I just want to wish you the very best for the coming year and I look forward to meeting you all. Remember, if you have any problems or just need a friend to talk too, we in the Students’ Union are here for you.
