Answer
How does carry fail work?
If you are unfortunate to fail an exam, you will need to sit a repeat in August. If after the repeats, you only have 55 out of 60 credits, no less, then you will be allowed carry your failed module into the next year. This allows you to progress, but you will be under more pressure for next year. You will need to do the failed module, in the same semester that you did it the previous year, but this will more than likely conflict with your new timetable. From the colleges’ point of view, this is your problem. You will have been given a favour being allowed to progress, and it’s up to you to carry the workload. You will not be informed that you are allowed continue with a carry fail until the repeat results are out in early September.
