CIT Energy - What can I do?
How can you help CIT?
Ireland has a National Energy Efficiency Action Plan to reduce energy consumption by 33% across the Public Sector by 2020. Help the Campus achieve their 33% energy reduction target by conserving energy now in Cork Institute of Technology by the following energy savings tips:
ELECTRICITY:
- Switch off electrical equipment when not in use.
- Set up hibernation mode on your laptop/PC, rather than stand-by mode which continues to use 70% of normal power.
- Switch off all lights when you are the last to leave a room / area.
- Use daylight where possible. It is free and more pleasant than artificial light.
HEATING:
- Keep windows closed while the heating is on.
- Keep entrance and exit doors to the building closed.
- Ensure all radiators are exposed to allow the heat to radiate throughout the room.
- Report any factors which affect comfort levels such as draughty windows and doors.
- A simple repair could save energy and improve user comfort.
WATER:
- Do not leave taps running! Turn on and off as you need when brushing teeth and washing dishes.
- Limit the time you spend in the shower to three songs max!
